You Were Created! … So enjoy what God has made.
Have you spent any time lately thinking about the reality that you were created by God? Jesus created all things; “Without Him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:3) “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” (Hebrews 11:3) God created your inmost being; He knit you together in your mother’s womb. You have been fearfully and wonderfully made! (Psalm 139:13-14)
God created you out of nothing – to be something! Well before you were aware of any desire you might have for God, He desired you. He invented you in His mind and then created you. He wanted to see you and experience you, and He wanted you to experience Him and interact with Him – That’s why you exist. Your desire for God is the truest and most essential facet of your life because it touches the deepest and most foundational aspect of why you exist.
Not only are your desires for God based upon His desire for you, all of your desires ultimately originate in God. Have you ever considered the reality that God invented your desires? We tend to think our desires simply come from us – that we are their source. However, I would submit to you that your desires actually come from God. Your job is to get in touch with them, and understand them and seek God for their fulfillment. See, God created your desires because He wants to fulfill them. This brings you and Him delight and satisfaction. This is a powerful truth!
Your desires are not your own, they have a heavenly origin. It is not your responsibility to find your own way to fulfill your desires, or even to try to get God to fulfill them. He already wants to satisfy your desires and has a plan to do so – This is His creative and created plan for you. Yours is simply to bring your desires to God to better understand them, and to seek His will and resources for their fulfillment. This is to God’s glory and His and your delight and satisfaction.
So, don’t deny or run from your desires; run towards them in God. He’s the Author and Fulfiller of your desires. Seek His ways and His presence in it all.
Enjoying My Desires With You,
Pastor Tom
