Why Hold Back?
Is there anyone who really knows you, who has experienced the big events of your life with you, who knows your feelings and perspectives? You may have a few people who have shared in some (or even most) of the significant happenings of your life, but no one has really been there with you through them all. Even the people who have been with you haven’t really seen and experienced what you have. They have seen things from their perspective. They may have experienced many things with you, but not inside you. Only God knows you like that! Every memory that you have can be shared with God. He was there, not just with you, but WITH you. He is the only One you will ever really, really, really be able to share your life with. He knows you inside out (literally and figuratively), and He wants to share your life with you.
So, why do we so often keep God at a distance, only sharing “our religious lives” with Him? Is it because we think that if we hide some aspects of our lives He won’t know they exist? Whom are we fooling? Deep down, where nobody but you gets to go in your life, do you fear you are displeasing to God? Do you think He likes you, or doesn’t like you?
May I remind you again, God loves you! He created who you are and He wants what is really best and most fulfilling for you – all the time. He always wants to share with you. His pleasure in you is not based upon you religious performance. It’s based upon His love for you and His continued work in you. He is on the move in your life to meet you in every way and every part of your being . The One who knows you, is pursuing you – isn’t that awesome! There is no need to hold back who you are from God; it only reaps the needless fruit of isolation . Let’s let God touch and interact with every aspect of us, and let’s see what powerful things He does in and through us.
“May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The One who calls you is faithful and He will do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 23-24)
